Adrenaline leads change to drive brands and businesses ahead, and the Executive Design Director is pivotal to the success of that goal by providing experienced leadership to a fast-growing, multidisciplinary experience design team that serves the retail banking industry and includes specialties in interiors, architecture, environmental graphic design and industrial design. The experience design team is an integral part of Adrenaline’s broader service model, between branding and experience strategy and implementation of prototype and subsequent applications to transform retail networks.
Reporting to the Chief Experience Officer, the ideal candidate is a proven leader in guiding profitable, high-performing teams that produce visionary design work that advances the industry. They have a track record of structuring agile design processes and will bring their experience forward to our teams to support business growth. They’re external evangelists for the value of design, and lead conversations with clients and the industry, representing Adrenaline with expertise and confidence. They mentor and nurture teams that are motivated by solving new challenges in new ways. They elevate the work of all those around them. And they always vector toward getting the job done.
Accountabilities Be ultimately accountable for the superior quality of the experience design product, which includes retail refresh programs, architecture, interiors, retail marketing communications and technology integration, by providing strategic direction to the experience design team, and the evolving needs of the financial industry.
Extend experience design into scalable, replicable, multi-cost-tiered solutions for clients with large retail networks, with the creation of and adherence to standards and guidelines.
Collaborate with the new business and account teams to identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging design expertise to attract, retain and grow clients.
Integrate workflows with brand, analytics, strategy, retail implementation and construction teams, ensuring alignment with Adrenaline’s growth goals.
Inform flexible design delivery & services optionality to meet client and company needs, with continual iteration and optimization.
Lead collaboration between design, project and resource management and account teams to ensure optimal delivery. Head resource partnerships to address fluctuating volumes of work.
Ensure both strategy and implementation expertise are infused in design solutions, to output work that is on brand and on budget.
Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Qualifications
15+ years’ experience in retail design or related design field
Strong working knowledge of architectural, interior, site planning, and industrial design
Thorough understanding of environmental graphic design, kit-of-parts programs and marketing communications
Expert knowledge of design programs and related technology
Proven experience in managing and growing teams
Retail banking experience highly preferred
Degree in design-related field preferred
The position may be remote, with the expectation that candidates have the ability to travel to our Portsmouth, NH office 2-3 times per quarter for team meetings and collaboration.
